THE NORTHERN HUB

The Northern Multi-Agency Hub was a government election commitment to support women and families.  Led by WSSSA and South Australian Police (SAPOL) the hub will provide a collaborative response to domestic violence early intervention, recovery and prevention.  Services available will include:

  • Immediate safety responses and safety management strategies 
  • Accommodation (emergency and medium term)
  • The Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme
  • Access to onsite police service for taking reports, statement sand intervention order applications and variations

 

THE ROLE

Risk and Safety Specialist will provide Risk and Safety Reports to SAPOL to safeguard people seeking to withdraw charges, revoke or vary intervention orders. Assessing risk, developing safety management plans and connecting victim-survivors to a range of DFV support services where they are not already connected. 

If you are an experienced and passionate practitioner within the DFV sector or strongly related field, this could be your chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of South Australian women and their children by playing a key role in developing integrated practices between SAPOL and various DFV support services.

Risk and Safety Specialists duties include:

  • Undertake comprehensive risk assessments that highlight areas of coercive control, high and imminent risk
  • Work with people at risk to develop thorough safety management strategies
  • Produce comprehensive Risk and Safety Reports for SAPOL or courts as requested

WSSSA are currently seeking two full time Risk & Safety Specialists based at our Northern Hub, initially offered on a fixed term contract until March 2026.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position you will have significant experience in the provision of counselling or case management through trauma informed responses and practice, in a domestic violence or strongly related field.

  • A Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Services or similar, and/ or experience commensurate with the position.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and safety management as it relates to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence in diverse contexts.
  • Previous experience working in a crisis or domestic violence or related setting;
  • Excellent knowledge of the theoretical approaches applicable when working with women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, including Aboriginal family violence;
  • Strong attention to detail with sound administration and report writing skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high empathy, and able to support clients of diverse backgrounds;
  • A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
