THE ROLE

Our Safe at Home Program supports women and their children who are experiencing, or have experienced domestic and family violence to remain safely in their home.  

The Home Safety Coordinator coordinates upgrades to property security, safety planning and connecting women with additional support services as required.  Working full time, duties include the following:

  • Work closely with our domestic violence crisis line and key stakeholders to respond to referrals;
  • Undertake security audits of client homes in person, and over the phone and initiate appropriate security upgrades;
  • Complete comprehensive safety plans for clients in relation to their home security;
  • Liaise with approved Safe at Home contractors, housing providers, real estate agents and other key providers to ensure audit recommendations and security requirements are completed;
  • Escalate concerns and manage safety as appropriate, particularly when attending client homes. 

This position is initially offered on a fixed term basis until 30 September 2024 with onward extension subject to funding.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position you will have an understanding of domestic and family violence and the impacts for women and children.  Other key requirement include:

  • Demonstrated experience working in an administrative capacity with responsibility for coordinating activities in a high pressured environment
  • Ability to work empathetically with clients around their experiences of domestic and family violence
  • Ability to conduct safety planning with women to increase their safety
  • Understanding of DFV sector and other service pathways available to clients
  • Experience in maintaining client records and databases
  • Minimum TAFE diploma in welfare, community services, administration or experience commensurate with the position
  • A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
