THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Safety, Accountability and Responsibility Through Integration (SARTI) program as a Women's Advocate.  

In line with WSSSA's commitment to professional development and career progression, this position has become available due to an internal secondment, reflecting our strong focus on creating growth opportunities for our people.  

The SARTI program is a collaborative partnership between Department for Correctional Services (DCS) and WSSSA.   The program works to enhance the safety of women and children whose partners or former partners are participating in Domestic and Family Violence Intervention Programs within custodial and community correctional settings. 

As a Women’s Advocate, you will provide specialist telephone-based support, risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and referral services to women and their children.  You will also facilitate domestic and family violence psychoeducational groups within Adelaide Women's prison and contribute to the delivery of professional training to DCS staff.  

This is a unique opportunity to work within an innovative integrated response model that prioritises the safety of women and children while supporting perpetrator accountability.  

The position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027.

ABOUT YOU

You are a passionate and skilled practitioner committed to improving safety outcomes for women and children affected by domestic and family violence.  

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• A degree level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Social Science, Community Services or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in domestic and family violence practice.  
• Demonstrated experience working with women and children affected by domestic and family violence; 
• Strong skills in risk assessment, safety planning and strengths-based case management; 
• The ability to engage effectively with clients through assertive outreach and build rapport quickly with individuals who may not have actively sought support;
• Experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds, including Frist Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse communities; 
• Well-developed communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills; 
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency service environments; 
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and complex client needs; 
• Confidence using electronic client management systems and maintaining accurate documentation; 
• A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
