THE ROLE

Our staff are the foundation of our organisation and we are looking for a Work, Health & Safety Coordinator who shares our values and is passionate about contributing a positive and inclusive workplace.

This important role will provide be responsible for providing a safe working environment and enhancing the wellbeing of the workforce by assisting to implement WHS policies & procedures and wellbeing initiatives. This position will play a key role in promoting a safety first culture through the provision of advice and information to the organisation in all WHS and wellbeing matters, and the completion of all WHS related tasks. Including:

  • Contributing WHS expertise to assist with implementation of WHS systems, processes and framework. 
  • Distribution of communications & documentation relating to WHS & wellbeing. 
  • Facilitate WHS training & appointment across the organisation.
  • Perform all WHS, Return to Work & Wellbeing tasks.. 
  • Promote a safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation.
  • Manage and coordinate WHS incidents and reporting
  • Assist and advise managers on day to day HR issues including HR policies, processes and employee relations issues. 

This position will be negotiated with the successful candidate as 0.8-1.0 FTE based at the WSSSA Head Office in Mile End.

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this exciting and busy role you will need 2 + years experience in a WH&S Coordinator role, as well as:

  • Qualification in WHS or HR and /or related experience commensurate with the position.
  • Return to Work Coordinator Accreditation
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in contemporary Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices, including the ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation codes of practice, and standards (e.g. Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations).
  • High level of initiative, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities. 
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.  
  • Initiative to pursue professional development goals & maintain up to date knowledge of changes in the WHS & Wellbeing arena.
  • A current drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
