THE ROLE

WSSSA have an opportunity for a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist to join the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) on a part time basis.  The successful applicant will work 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week) on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2026, with further extension subject to funding.

The DVDS is a state-wide program that enables people to lodge a request to SAPOL, where they are concerned about the behaviour of someone within the context of an intimate relationship.  After receipt of referral, the DFV Specialist makes initial contact with the applicant, facilitates the information with SAPOL and provides support and referrals to the clients.  This role will cover the Adelaide metropolitan region as well as the Barossa, Fleurieu, Kangaroo Island, Adelaide Hills and Light.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position you will have significant knowledge and experience in the provision of services to women and children affected by domestic and family violence.

  • Hold or be studying towards a degree level qualification in Social Work or hold a tertiary degree in a related discipline with commensurate experience with the position. 
  • Knowledge and experience of undertaking assessments and safety management planning;
  • High-level engagement skills - demonstrated ability to engage with clients in an assertive outreach capacity (ie clients who have not sought a service from the organisation).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high empathy, and able to support clients of diverse backgrounds;
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team and/or multi-agency team;
  • Experience in managing electronic client records, and strong attention to detail;
  • A current full drivers licence, and be eligible for, or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
