Expressions of interest are invited from internal WSSSA staff for the role of Women's Advocate.

This is an exciting new opportunity working within the Integrated Programs team on part time basis (0.6FTE), currently fixed term until December 2025, with further extension subject to funding.

 

THE ROLE

The Domestic & Family Violence – Perpetrator Response Program (DFV-PRP)  is an integrated accommodation and support program for perpetrators providing alternatives to removing women and children from their home by offering perpetrators an intensive residential therapeutic program.

Independent support for protected persons is a vital component and protection for those at risk of abuse. The Women’s Advocate will provide casework services to the protected person(s) and their children, affected by domestic and family violence whose partners (or former partners) are involved in the DFV-PRP.

The Women’s Advocate will predominantly provide a phone-based service with a strong focus on safety management and the provision of support to the Protected Persons.  The Women’s Advocate has a key role in providing the protected person’s perspective as part of the ongoing risk management process with the men accessing the OARS DFV-PRP.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position you will have significant knowledge and experience in the provision of services to women and children affected by domestic and family violence.

  • A degree level qualification in Social Work, which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • High-level engagement skills with demonstrated ability to engage with clients in an assertive outreach capacity;
  • Understanding of risk assessments and safety management planning;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high empathy, and able to support clients of diverse backgrounds;
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team and/or multi-agency team;
  • Strong initiative with ability to plan and manage complex caseloads;
  • Experience in managing electronic client records, and strong attention to detail
